THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE WHAT THE &*()^???

Okay ladies and gentlement, and children of all ages... Without further ado, here is this past weekend's GBU for your reading pleasure (or, to just pass a few minutes of your time at work... And hey, don't worry, I won't tell the boss!!!)

THE GOOD

Mets take 2 of 3 from Cincy...

Who'da thunk it, but we send Johan, Pelfrey and Perez to the mound in the 3 games, and the best pitched game goes to none other the Mike Pelfrey!!! Figures it's in the one game in the series we don't win!!!

Don't look know, but the Carlos boys (a.k.a. Laverne and Shirley) are waking up... Beltran was 5-11 in this series, with 11 RBIs... Delgado was also 5-11, took a few shots the other way into left field, and added a homer to go along with it...

Church continues to be our best overall player, with another nice offensive weekend, and some nice defense to go with it...

Moises back in the lineup just really makes us a whole lot better, and the lineup ALOT deeper... I mean, for all we crack on him, having a guy like Delgado hitting 7th for us REALLY makes it tough for opposing pitchers from the top of the lineup to the bottom...

THE BAD

To put it nicely, the bullpen was adequate this weekend... Only due to the offense building up big leads though... The numbers, in the end, look awful...

The pen pitched 9 innings (3 in each game), and allowed 8 runs... Five of which were in Saturday night's game, effectively killing any chance of a Mets comeback...

THE WHAT THE &*()^???

This honor would have to go to Dusty, Willie, and the umpires for their version of dumb, dumber, and dumberest!!!

YAY, Ding Dong! I have really missed the GBU.

I was gonna post sumfin' about You're Out Of Order! with a big pic of Al Pacino and all, but I figured you were gonna have sumfin' to say about it, so I left it to you.

And I LOVE THE WILLIE GUMP PIC! :)

Man, what a bunch of collective bozos out there yesterday, huh? Hard to believe Dusty B is perenially thought of as one of the great managers in the game. Kinda makes you wonder, huh?

If Dusty is one of the "great" managers, then Willie should be in the HOF as a manager!!!

That whole thing yesterday was pretty damn embarrassing!!!

Speaking of "out of order", has somebody forgotten to remind the Marlins that they're supposed to suck???

Deb said...

Uhhhh... they will suck, I think, at some point this season. They just haven't hit that point yet *snicker.*

And you're totally right about yesterday, of course. Not only Does Anybody Here Know How To Play This Game applies, but Does Anybody Here Even Know The Rules Of The Game applies.

I think the Marlins will suck this year, overall... But, it's certainly not the first time they've come from nowhere with a bunch of kids, and made some noise...

And, not for nothing, but nice to see them finally lock up one of their young stars...

I am always a closet fan of the underdog, ding dong, so in the back of my mind, I'm always rooting for the unlikely success story... except when we play them, of course, or when their game might affect us adversely in the standings.

I just have very little faith in their owner, and it seems as if the only answer to success in that franchise is the selling off of players and years of barely watchable baseball in between.

DINGOMETS said...

Well, their owner, Jeffrey Loria, is evil, and I cannot possibly root for him, or the team he owns, to do well...

They've also had their share of successes in recent history, so if I was to REALLY go for an underdog, I'd root for a team like the Brewers, Indians, or some team like that...

Deb said...

Yeah, I know, but I can't help but feel sorry for Marlins fans because of Satan Loria. I mean, we complain about the Wilpons and all, but could you imagine if Loria owned the Mets?

DINGOMETS said...

That's one of the reasons that, by and large, I don't complain about the Wilpons...

I've seen and heard fans from other cities with the exact same complaints about their ownership, only they could only dream of having guys like Beltran, Wagner, Pedro, Johan, etc... on their teams...

I'm not going to get too excited over The Carloses yet... Beltran is streaky as hell, and Delgado has been crappy for too long for me to trust it yet.

But my new whipping boy is definitely going to be Luis "Oops, I'm Injured Again" Castillo. LOL

DINGOMETS said...

Hey, who you whip in your own time is your own business!!!

I know Beltran is streaky as hell, which actually may be a positive right now, IF he's heading into one of his hot streaks...
