You all know I hate the Yankees, a fact which has been well established over the years, but I can't help but bring this up...
I'm listening to Mike Francessa on WFAN coming back to work from my lunch hour, and Mike is talking about how the Yankees proved this past weekend that they are "still the Yankees," and they're "not going to let these young pitchers (Kennedy and Hughes) learn how to pitch at the major league level."
Which to me, makes me scratch my head even more about why the Yankees did not go harder after Johan Santana last off-season. I mean, here's a guy in Santana who is undoubtedly one of the top five pitchers in either league; he's won two Cy Young Awards; he's in the prime of his pitching life (not even 30 years old yet); he's set, he's ready to go, he's a known commodity; and we certainly know money is no object for the Yankees.... yet they curiously let him go by in favor of a couple of young unproven pretty much unknowns...
ONE OF WHOM IS NOW IN THE F**KING MINORS, AND ANOTHER OF WHOM IS NOW ON THE DL, AFTER A MUCH LESS THAN STELLAR PERFORMANCE THUS FAR IN 2008!!!!!
So let me ask you, in the words of one of my favorite Lethal Weapons quotes, which goes like this: "Who is the dickhead now, hmmm?"

Guess if he wants to save his job, Brian Cashman may have to plead Diplomatic Immunity!!!
LOL hee hee hee... very good, ding dong... very good!
Hey, did you get Coop's invite regarding 6/1?
Yeah, I did...
I need to check my schedule... I may be heading out to Vegas one of the first weekends in June, but don't know the exact details or dates yet...
Well, I guess Shea Stadium can't compete with Vegas... nor should it!
Nope, not really!!!
Still waiting, though, to hear what those plans are...
But Dingbat, I am a hell of a lot cooler than Vegas is. And like Vegas, what goes on while hanging out with Coop stays with, uh, hanging with Coop. Or something like that.
Coop...
I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make it that day...
Looks like Vegas will either be one or two weekends later...
So, fer now, you can count me in!!! WOOHOOOO!!!
Talk about me, ding dong and The Coop together at a game... The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.... well, since ding dong made me be the Ugly, I'm now left only to wonder which one of the remaining two is the Good, and which one is the Bad... stay tuned! :)
I'm gonna have to agree with Coop here - she's a lot cooler than vegas. But back to Johan, deb, I do think Hughes will be a pretty good pitcher someday if he stays healthy. Kennedy, to me, just doesn't seem that great - but it's pretty early. The Yanks were under a lot of pressure NOT to made a huge signing based on how the past few pitchers have bombed (Randy Johnson, Carl Pavano).
But Stef, Johnson was already OLD when they signed him, and realistically one could assume his best years were behind him, and Pavano had nowhere near the pedigree that Santana has.
And the big market big money teams like the Yankees and the Mets and the Red Sox and maybe one or two others (but probably not) are built to win now, and can't really afford to let young talent develop at the major league level.
And let's not forget, Santana is one of the top five pitchers in the game today. You just don't let that go by, especially when your rotation is.... questionable, at the very least.
I suspect this will be Cashman's last year as Yankee GM...
You got any a that there evidence, ding dong?
No...
If I had evidence, I would have said I KNOW Cashman won't be the GM...
Without evidence, I say things like I "THINK" or I "SUSPECT" Cashman......
But, when the owner essentially calls you stupid for not having Joba in the rotation, and you KNOW that Hank wanted to pull the trigger on trading for Johan, I don't think it's a big stretch to think that Mini-Brenner will make some changes after this year...
Mini-Brenner... lol.
And I was just teasin' ya, ding dong.... about the evidence and all.
I happen to agree that The Two Mini-Brenners are going to makes some changes in the organization, and Brian will likely be one.
