Another solid effort by Johan... I still don't think we've seen him at his best, but he's still be very good so far... 7 innings, 3 runs, and most importantly, his 6th win of the year...
The bottom of the order coming through!! Very nice games for Tatis, Castro, Easley... Leave Delgado on the bench!!!!
Solid work by both Duaner and Wags to seal the deal...
THE BAD
Another error by Jose, who is continuing to suffer from HUHA syndrome...
And again, I don't like picking on the kids, but Evans with another o-fer, and leaving 7 men on base...
THE WOOOHOOO WE WON A GAME!!!

RAAAAAAAAAISE THE FLAG! We won a game... and against a team in our own division, yet. As Monty Python once said - "luxury." lol
Willie insinuated during the pregame interviews last night that he might "do it again," with regard to sitting Delgado. I hate to say this Willie, but you SHOULD, and then HUHA ought to be next, although I thought HUHA played a little better last night.
More and more it's looking as if CD has to be CDone and Gone, and if I were the Mets, I'd be looking around.
Deb, I'd have NO problem if we never saw Delgado take the field for the Mets again...
His performance ON the field, and I believe his influence OFF the field, make me ready to boot his ass to the curb...
"Beat on the brat... beat on the brat... beat on the brat with a baseball bat... oh, yeah, oh, yeah, ye-ah....."
We're looking for a seventh inning song? Well, why not that Ramones classic, "Beat on the Brat." LOL
Can't think of anything more appropriate for that "I Can Be An Ass Too" Man.
you guys crack me up - where do you get all these wonderful photos Dingbat? Yesterday. Kevin Bacon's "All is well!" photo - gets me every time. The Reds I think released someone yesterday (it was on metsmerized) and they were lobbying for Omar to get 'ir done. Could be we do have a back up plan for Delgodawful.
I think we are going to see some changes made, Coop, at first, seemingly quietly, not-so-big ones, like Willie benching CDone yesterday. If we watch closely, I think the changes will slowly become evident and will hopefully help turn things around for this mess of a team.
Coop,
Wanted you to know that the Kevin Bacon picture was put there just for you!!!
I think the Reds just released Scott Hatteburg... Wouldn't be a bad pick-up...
Of course, at least a few of us were wondering all winter why Omar wasn't going after a backup first baseman...
Deb,
The only concern I'd have is that maybe Willie thinks that just giving Delgado one or two days off (against lefties, by the way) to "clear his head" will actually solve all of Delgado's woes...
Well, it's a start, ding dong. Maybe if Willie sees the team picking it up without CDone, and then he re-inserts him and the team sucks again, a light may go off.
For what it's worth, I think there is a lot of pressure on Willie to think outside the box, or even inside the box, but inside a different box. I also think that Willie has turned the corner a bit insofar as worrying over his job; he is a fairy inexperienced manager, and maybe had to go through the types of things that occurred in the last month to bring him to another level.
Let's just hope that level is a better one than the last one, for our sake and for Willie's. I think the Wilpons will leave him out there until the end of the season if the team doesn't totally tank.
Dingbat, here's the prob though - Wills isn't given much of a choice as far as Delgottago goes - he could staart Nick Evans at 1B semi-permanently, but that could hurt the team long -term and as you mentioned he could be a bit overmatched for now (but could also be home-cooking jitters as well). All I know is he might be making a statement not just to delwhiffo but to the front office as well saying - no more mr nice guy playing guys with a big contract.
and another thing, i think that if wills sits laverne again tonight will give him a reprieve from the BPP this week...
Again, all fine, and I hope you guys are both right...
I'm skeptical that this will be more than just a day or two off for Delgado, and think that after he's had a chance to "clear his head", that we're likely to see Delgado right back in the lineup, at least for a little while longer...
I don't think the Wilpons and Omar are ready to eat his salary, and I don't think Willie would bench him long-term...
Oh, and I'd also have no problem with calling up Mike Carp to play 1st base every day...
I know it would be VERY rough with both Carp and Evans in the lineup, but heck, I don't think it hurts us much more than having Delcrappo out there every day, and if they think Carp is a future major leaguer, then what the heck, let's start working him in sooner rather than later...
