THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE JOSE JOSE JOSE JOSE!!!!

THE GOOD!!!

THE METSIES WIN!!!

Excellent out by John Maine... 7 solid innings, and other than the couple of solo homeruns, never really got in too much trouble..

Easley with another very good game... 3 hits, key 2-out RBI to go with it...

Schoeneweis and Joe Smith gettin' the job done...

Wagner nailing it down dominantly in the 9th...

And, of course, Jose with the big knock last night!!!

THE BAD

More poor situational hitting... Leaving the bases loaded a few times...

Being nitpicky here, but wondering why Manuel chose to use Cancel to pinch hit late in the game, rather than Castro...

THE UGLY

Marlon Anderson looks lost, both in the field and at the plate... Hate to give up on a guy like Marlon who has been so useful to us in the past, but right now, he just ain't getting the job done... Much rather see Tatis or Evans out there...

I think, right now, ding dong, that Marlon Anderson is a luxury (? lol) that we can't afford, not with the outfield situation being what it is. I suspect Omar will pull the trigger on some sort of trade before long, and Marlon will be, as they say, history.

I think the bad blood between the Mets and the Phillies is propeling a serious rivalry, and we can expect more and more trash talking and inside pitching and perhaps even knocking down of batters before the year is out. Giggity, giggity giggity - fun stuff!

Yeah, Marlon is out of the lineup today... And I understand Jerry's point about trying to get Marlon's bat going, but 2 issues I had are:

1) Games against Philly right now are NOT the right time to try to get a guy hot, but rather to use the guys who ARE hot (Tatis).

2) Why was Marlon hitting 6th??? At least move him down to 7th, and maybe even 8th (though I understand that's tough to do, since hitting in front of the pitcher doesn't make things any easier)....

As for the rivalry, I've said it many times...

SCREW the Braves... Who cares about Atlanta...

The Phillies and the city of Philadelphia is SUCH a better rivalry, and unfortunately, there's just never been anything in our histories that have caused us to ever develop any kind of rivalry, until last year...

Agreed, on all counts. The timing of the Marlon thing is, indeed, curious, and perhaps there is more to it than we know, although I'll be damned if I have the slightest idea what that might be, lol.

So whaddaya think, dingy, trade time?

Trade time, hmmm?

That's tough... I think it's pretty clear we could use a corner OF bat like Nady or Jason Bay, but I'd hold out a bit longer here and wait for the price to drop...

According to an article on SI, Pittsburgh has reportedly already kinda lowered their demands for Nady, and as the deadline gets closer, it will only drop more...

I would say at this point that I would consider Fernando Martinez and Jon Neise both to be untouchable, unless we are getting back a PREMIER player (not a guy like Nady or Bay)...

In the end, I think we're going to see us get something more along the lines of Raul Ibanez or Casey Blake, which won't cost us nearly as much...

And either of which would do just fine, lol. I agree, I don't see Nady or Bay or Holliday or anybody along those lines.

In view of the Church situation, and the team situation in general, I think it's very important to go out and acquire a right hand bat for the outfield. And maybe change the bullpen around a bit. I'm still not convinced we won't trade one of our bullpen guys.
