Shit, Or Get Off The Pot, Already!....

....Jeeze.....!!!!!!

WFAN is reporting that the job of Willie Randolph, and likely the jobs of Howard Johnson and/or Rick Peterson, are in grave and serious trouble (and no, that's not overly redundant, considering the situation) going into the weekend series with the Texas Rangers.

Rumor further has it that Jerry Manuel, currently a Mets coach, will be given the manager's job if indeed Willie is fired, and that the pitching coach from the Mets AAA NOLA affiliate, whose name escapes me at the moment, will replace Peterson, if he too departs.

No word on who would replace HoJo. Not that it really matters, anyway.

The only thing I have to say here is that all of this cannot possibly be good for the team, and is yet more evidence of the Wilpon and Mets' organization hand-wringing and paralysis by analysis that seems to hold the Mets hostage. Make a decision, one way or the other, already. They just never seem to want to do it.

Make a bleeping bleeping decision, already. Just do it, and be done with it, and move on.

I agree but I think that they should fire everyone and I mean everyone. Including Nieto (who I like but he's expendable) and Alomar (Send Em Home Sandy). OK if we have to keep Manuel around, so be it, since theoretically he is the bench coach and he probably knows the team better than anyone they could bring in from the street but leave it as a "interim only" meaning after this season, his butt goes back to being the bench coach! As for replacing HoJo or any of these other guys, why are the Mets so loath to promoting Oberkfell? Dude knows his stuff and he's paid his dues. No DWIs or criminal records plus he's a cancer survivor. Bring him up!

Coop, I think whatever they do at this point is little more than token change, which is why I'm not really in favor of it at this point. I would take my time and seriously consider what's wrong with the team, and seriously contemplate how to fix it, then I'd fire them all, hire Buck, and watch what happens.

Firing the coaches and putting Manuel in charge at this point is more akin to throwing a cup of water on a blazing inferno. However, that being said, it's also awful for the team to have the manager and the coaches on a constant hot seat. I just don't see how that will do anything positive for the team.

If they're going to stick with Willie and the coaches, they need to come out and say it, and that has to be the end of it. If they're not sure they want to do that, then they need to go in another direction, and now.
